Experience the Traditional Japanese performing art of Noh on a Noh stage!
The Noh Theater is located not far from Osaka Castle. Visitors can experience the traditional Japanese performing art of Noh in this solemn space, which is registered as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan. Noh has a history of about 700 years, and was a favorite of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the builder of Osaka Castle. It is registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage and is highly acclaimed overseas as well. In addition to seeing beautiful Noh costumes and masks up close, visitors can try on costumes on the sacred Noh stage, learn the basic posture of the Noh play “suriashi,” and even try on the Noh masks used on the stage. English texts are also available, so foreign visitors can experience Noh with peace of mind.
