Enjoy the beauty of art and gardens in this spacious building
An art museum where you can enjoy both the garden and the masterpieces. It was established by Izumi City with the donation of land, buildings and art works from Kuboso Co., Ltd., which ran a cotton business. It has around 11000 pieces of Ukiyo-e woodblock prints and modern Western art, mainly oriental antiquities including 2 national treasures and 29 important cultural properties. They hold 4 ~ 5 special exhibitions a year to display their collections, and they also hold their own special exhibition once a year. In the regular display in the new building, western modern paintings such as Monet and Renoir are exhibited as well as Chinese artifacts.

All of Utagawa Hiroshige's “Famous Views of the Sixty-odd Provinces,” which he produced in his later years, are on display. Visitors can appreciate Hiroshige's skill in depicting famous places in various regions of Japan on a vertical screen. Let's travel around Japan through the landscapes of Ukiyoe prints.
The exhibition features about 90 works mainly from the Edo period, including crafts used in games such as Go, karuta, hakoita, and dolls, as well as paintings depicting the expressions and gestures of people at play. Enjoy the world of beauty related to games.
The Teiseido Collection, donated to Izumi City in 2000 by Munetake Hayashi (1923-2006), a well-known collector of Chinese calligraphy and paintings, is on display. Visitors can enjoy the diverse appeal of Chinese paintings from the Qing dynasty to modern times.
