Sneak into the Ukiyo-e Museum of Osaka, where you can see “waves” all year round!
An art museum specializing in Ukiyoe prints in the Shinsaibashi-suji shopping street. They have many works related to Osaka and Kyoto such as Katsushika Hokusai, Utagawa Hiroshige, Kitagawa Utamaro and Toshusai Sharaku who are called the four great masters of Ukiyoe. You can enjoy the ukiyo-e masterpieces that Japan is proud of in the world up close. Among the 36 Views of Mount Fuji, the popular "Great Wave off Kanagawa" is on permanent display and can be viewed anytime of the year. At the free museum shop, you can buy books and goods related to Ukiyoe and Ukiyoe prints printed in the Edo and Meiji periods.
The photo is of one of Katsushika Hokusai's most famous works in the world, Katsushika Hokusai 36 Views of Mount Fuji, The Great Wave off Kanagawa. Original prints from the Edo period are on display.
