This unique building consists of two wings straddling a canal. Except for the exhibition rooms, the rest of the museum is open to the public free of charge, and the rooftop garden with a view of Nagasaki Port and Mt. Inasa is a place of relaxation.
Enrichment through exposure to nature and art
The museum is located in a corner of Nagasaki Waterfront Forest Park. The modern design by architect Kengo Kuma is in harmony with the surrounding nature, embodying the concept of a “breathing museum” while providing a pleasant sensation to visitors. The permanent exhibition room displays one of the largest collections of Spanish art in the Orient and artworks related to Nagasaki. A store where visitors can purchase Hasami-yaki pottery is also popular.
