The Museum was built on the site of the former Magistrate's Office in the Edo era, and the building has been restored to its original appearance.
Travel back in time to ancient Nagasaki
The Museum’s main theme is the history of overseas exchange in Nagasaki in the early modern period. It displays valuable historical materials and traditional artifacts and antiques from its diverse collection. Through unique exhibits and experiences such as large-screen videos, quizzes, and puzzles, you can experience Nagasaki as it was in those days. The Sunday-only skit in the ‘Oshirasu (a place of judgment in the Edo period, like a court of law today)’ is also popular.
History and Culture Exhibition Zone where you can learn about Nagasaki’s history through hands-on experiences.
