About Saikai National Park - Saikai National Park is located in the northwestern part of Nagasaki Prefecture and includes Kujukushima in Sasebo to Hirado Island and the Goto Islands. The Kujukushima and Wakamatsu Seto, which are densely packed with numerous small islands, are representative of the scenery.

  Gobo Mochi was a traditional tea confectionery of the Shigenobu-ryu school of tea ceremony, founded by Matsura Shigenobu, the first feudal lord of the Hirado Domain.

• Goto City

  The cliffs of Osezaki and the volcanic cliffs of Saga Island are particularly famous. Fukue Island and Saga Island are also home to a volcanic group of scoria hills and aspite (shield volcanoes), whose unique volcanic formations are rare even in Japan.

• Shin-Kamigoto Town

  During the Edo period, this area was known as a place where Christians seeking new lands settled. It is home to many historical and cultural heritage sites, including churches and temples, with 29 churches blending quietly into the peaceful landscape.

  Goto Udon (thick wheat noodles)

  It is one of the three major types of udon in Japan. It is said to have been introduced to the Goto Islands during the period of the Japanese envoys to the Tang Dynasty. It is made with camellia oil and is characterized by its firmness and smoothness.

• Saikai City

  The rapid currents and whirlpools of Hario Seto, one of Japan's three rapids, cherry blossoms, and the Saikai Bridge are a sight to behold.The scenery is breathtaking. The Nagasaki Bio Park, which employs an “ecological exhibition” system where animals live freely, and the Saikai Don Fair held every fall are popular.

• Ojika Town

  Chikasaki Bouzushi (Stick Sushi)

  Isaki, a fish that heralds the arrival of early summer. The Isaki from Ojika has a slightly darker color and is called "Chikasaki." This premium Isaki, caught using the traditional single-hook fishing method, is marinated in vinegar and transformed into a luxurious whole-fish stick sushi.
