Higashi Honganji Temple

One of the world's largest wooden buildings.The head temple of the Shinshū Ōtani-ha

The temple was founded in Keicho 7 (1602) when Kyonyo Shonin received a donation of land from Tokugawa Ieyasu. The current building was rebuilt in 1895 (1895). The Goeido, which houses a portrait of the founder of the sect, Shinran Shonin, is one of the largest wooden buildings in the world.76 m in front and 38 m in height. The Amida-do Hall is 52 m in front and 29 m high, which is animpressive scale!
The picture shows the Amida-do hall standing to the south of the Miei-do. It houses the principal image of Amitabha. It was rebuilt in 1895, the same year as the Mieido.
