The main shrine of "Inari-jinja Shrine" with a row of vermilion-lacquered torii gates
It is the head shrine of the approximately 30,000 Inari-jinja Shrines across the country and is said to have been founded in 711. Statues of foxes, which are believed to be messengers of the great god Inari, can be seen throughout the temple grounds, and the temple attracts many visitors throughout the year to pray for prosperous business and the safety of the family. There are a series of vermilion-lacquered torii gates on Mt. Inari, and mounds are scattered along the way.
