The oldest kabuki theater in Japan that tells the history of the theater town
It is said to have originated from one of the seven playhouses in Shijo-Kawaramachi that were officially approved by the Edo bakufu. It was newly opened in 2018 after seismic reinforcement work. Kichirei kaomise kogyo, which is usually held at the end of the year, is famous.
The fold-up coffered ceiling, which is a historical architectural style of Japan, and the Art Deco style harmonize.
