The approach to the temple is famous for its autumn foliage

A Tendai sect temple founded between Jowa era  (834 ~ 848) at the order of Emperor Saga. It is called 'Nison-in Temple' because its principal image enshrines Shaka Nyorai and Amida Nyorai. The vast precinct is dotted with temple buildings halfway up Mt. Ogura, and in the back is a famous place called Shigure-tei Ruins of FUJIWARA no Teika. A tranquil temple nestled at the eastern foot of Mt. Ogura, which was featured in Hyakunin Isshu, where you can spend a peaceful time..
