Three famous moon viewing places in Japan that still retain the image of the Heian period
It is the head temple of the Shingon sect Daikakuji school and is a Monzeki temple associated with the Imperial family that was converted from Emperor Saga's villa into a temple in Jogan 18 (876). He has' Botan-zu 'and' Kobai-zu 'painted by Sanraku KANO, which are representative works of Momoyama Kinpeki-ga. Osawa-ike Pond in the east of the grounds is the oldest Rinsen-style garden in Japan, modeled after Dongting Lake in China. It is also known as the Konpon Dojo for the copying of the heart sutra, and many worshipers still visit from all over the country.
At Osawa-no-ike Pond shown in the photo, the "Moon Viewing Evening" is held during the harvest moon.
