The Ho-o-do hall depicted on the 10-yen coin is famous
In 1052, the villa of the powerful Fujiwara no Michinaga was converted into a temple by his son and chief adviser to the Emperor, Fujiwara no Yorimichi. There are many highlights, including the Ho-o-do hall depicted on the 10-yen coin and a museum housing many national treasures. The Ho-o-do hall features symmetrical wing corridors inspired by the Pure Land of Amitabha.
