A mountain temple where you can feel the quiet "wabi" and "sabi" when you pass through the temple gate
A temple associated with Honen Shonin, who was active in the early Kamakura period and is known for his Senju Nenbutsu. The temple fell into ruin when Honen became a criminal at the wrath of the Retired Emperor Gotoba, but Manmushina restored it as a Nenbutsu training hall in 1680. The temple grounds are full of tranquility, with a main hall, study, bell tower, pond and spring. There are also graves of famous people such as Junichiro TANIZAKI.
The rustic, thatched temple gate exudes the atmosphere of a mountain temple.
