Togetsu-kyo Bridge

A landmark of Arashiyama where the wooden parapets blend in with the scenery

The bridge was built between 834 and 848 by the monk Dosho and was completed in 1934. The total length is 155 meters, and the piers are made of reinforced concrete, but the parapets are made of cypress, which blends in with the surrounding scenery. It is often used as a location for TV dramas and movies. If you want to take pictures of Togetsu-kyo Bridge, it is recommended to take pictures from the west side of the bridge. The colored Arashiyama spreads over Togetsu-kyo Bridge.
