One of a kind in the world Museum dedicated to “The Tale of Genji”
Opened in 1998. The museum is divided into an exhibition zone (fee required) and an information zone (free of charge). The exhibition zone contains full-scale reproductions of furnishings and other items. The information zone includes a library and other facilities.
The photograph shows a reconstructed model of Rokujo-in, the residence where Hikaru Genji and his daughters lived. Even the water flow is reproduced in detail, and it is worth seeing!
Heian-no-ma. It reproduces a "glimpse" in which a man outside in the dark sees a woman in a bright room.
The Uji City Tale of Genji Museum's original animation "GENJI FANTASY: A cat fell in love with Hikaru Genji" was based on Murasaki Shikibu's diary "Murasaki Shikibu Nikki."
Uji no ma. '. The whole exhibition room is a story theater, and the outline of 'Uji jujo' (The Ten Quires of Uji) You can learn in about five minutes.
The spread of the classics will be introduced through publications from the Edo period, including multicolored nishiki-e prints, illustrated books, and sightseeing spots.
