A shrine with famous water that is representative of Kyoto.
Founded in 1885 (1885). This shrine is located to the east of Kyoto Gyoen and is dedicated to Sanetsumu and Sanetomi SANJO, father and son who contributed to the Meiji Restoration. The Someii Water, known as one of the three best water sources in Kyoto, springs within the temple grounds.
It is also famous for its hagi (Japanese bush clover), and in late September, about 500 hagi (Japanese bush clover) planted in the grounds bloom. The Hagi Festival is also held.
