Sanjo-dori Street

Let's visit stores and cafes in retro buildings

Sanjo-dori Street, between Karasuma-dori Street and Kawaramachi-dori Street, is the shopping street representing this area. Sensitive cafes and shops dot the landscape. In addition, many modern buildings were built from the Meiji period to the Taisho period, so many fashionable retro buildings are still seen here and there.
The photo shows the former Kyoto Post and Telegraph Office built in 1902 (1902). It is still active as the Nakagyo post office.
