Jojakkoji Temple

常寂光寺 vol.19 グラビア

A scenic spot for autumn leaves in silence.

An ancient temple named after the Buddhist utopia, Jojakkodo. It is believed to be the site of the mountain villa of the poet Fujiwara no Teika. Located in the middle of Mt. Ogura, the grounds are bathed in red autumn leaves.
Pictured is the oldest building. The Niomon statue is said to have been created by Unkei.
