It is also called Hakozaki Hachimangu, and is counted as one of the Japan’s three great Hachimangu shrines. The establishment is said to be in the Heian period, and the shrine grants calamity prevention and success of competition. Go through the Roumon, a Japan’s important cultural property, and visit the beautiful vermillion-lacquered main shrine and worship hall. Festivals such as “Tamatori-sai” and one of the Hakata’s three great festivals “Houjouya,” and seasonal flowers are also great attractions.
